Yield: 2 loaves

Ingredients:

5 3/4 cups flour, approx.
2 packages yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups milk
1/2 cup water
cornmeal, to dust

Directions:

1. Combine 3 cups flour, yeast, salt, sugar and soda.

2. Heat milk and water to 120 degrees.

3. Add to dry mixture and beat well.

4. Stir in enough flour to make a very stiff batter.

5. Spoon into two loaf pans (greased and sprinkled with cornmeal.)

6. Sprinkle cornmeal on top.

7. Cover and let rise in warm place for 45 minutes.

8. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes.

9. Remove from pans immediately.
