Recipe from the kitchen of Janith Farnham

Ingredients:

2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening
1 1/4 cups sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 cup applesauce
1 cup raisins
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

1. Sift together dry ingredients.

2. Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.

3. Blend dry ingredients into egg mixture alternately with applesauce.

4. Fold in raisins.

5. After baking, sprinkle sugar and teaspoon over top.
